During Vaughn Mancha's time at Alabama,
the Crimson Tide compiled a 30-9-2 record and played in two Sugar Bowls
and one Rose Bowl. Mancha Played 60 minutres in the 1945 Sugar Bowl and
was named to the Sugar Bowl all-decade team.
Vaughn Mancha was a four year letterman
at the University of Alabama a consensus All-America
in 1945 and Team Captain his Senior year. Coach Frank Thomas called Mancha,
"A brilliant defensive man, fine at diagnosing plays, a great defender
against passes, and a sure tackler, O offense he is a fine blocker, and
a good, accurate snapper. And he loves football."
